About
Zeitz MOCAA holds the largest collection of contemporary African art on the continent. The building itself, a converted grain silo, stuns with soaring cathedral-like atrium spaces. Visit for a serious engagement with African creative thought across painting, sculpture, and photography.
Zeitz MOCAA sits inside a dramatically converted grain silo at the V&A Waterfront. It holds the largest collection of contemporary African art anywhere in the world. Architect Heatherwick Studio carved the atrium from the original silo tubes, creating curved concrete spaces that feel almost sacred. Natural light pours down through the central void. Inside, the collection spans painting, sculpture, photography, and video work from artists across the continent and diaspora. Rotating exhibitions sit alongside the permanent collection. The top floor houses the Rooftop Restaurant with wide views over the harbour. Give yourself at least two hours to move through the floors properly. It rewards slow looking. Best for art lovers, curious travellers, and anyone who wants to understand contemporary African culture beyond the surface level.
