1 / 5Camps Bay Beach
About
Camps Bay Beach is Cape Town's most iconic stretch of white sand, backed by the Twelve Apostles mountain range. Expect cold Atlantic water, soft pale sand, and a buzzing strip of restaurants and bars just steps away. Perfect for sundowners, people-watching, or a long afternoon in the sun.
Camps Bay Beach sits along a wide, clean bay with the Twelve Apostles towering behind it. The Atlantic here runs cold year-round, so most visitors sunbathe rather than swim. The sand is fine and pale, and the beach fills up fast on summer weekends. Bring a windbreaker as the Cape Doctor can blow hard in the afternoons. The beachfront strip runs parallel to the shore and offers plenty of spots for post-beach drinks and meals. Café Caprice and The Bungalow are local favourites for sundowners with direct ocean views. Parking fills up early in summer, so arrive before 10am or walk down from De Waal Drive. Best visited late afternoon when the light turns golden and the mountains glow behind you.
